OKC GM Sam Presti says coach Scott Brooks is his guy and says reports that the team is interested in Phil Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy are quote “rubbish.” New York, Chicago, L.A., and Oklahoma City… one of these things is not like the other. Look, I get that Jackson has spent his entire coaching career falling forward, and ending up with the very best players in the very best situations. But can you really see smug, arrogant Philip kicking it in Oklahoma City. Neither can I. As for Van Gundy, if he couldn’t handle Steve Francis, how is he going to connect with Russell Westbrook? Answer: he’s not. Brooks is a great fit in that town and with that team. They were 1-12 when he took over in 09 and he had them within 3 games of a title 3 years later. I’m not saying he didn’t make some mistakes in the Finals. But he’s not the reason they lost: and while he’s not the biggest name available, he is the best man for his gig. You don’t run a guy for losing to a better team in the NBA Finals. You hook him up for leading them there.
