United States 156 Nigeria… 73??? Uh-oh! Never a good thing when you beat your opponent by more than they score. But coach Mike Krzyzewski wasn’t having any of this nonsense about how Team USA actually won by too much and ran it up on the Nigerians: “I take offense to the question because there’s no way in the world that our program in the United States sets out to humiliate anyone.” Absolutely. Don’t get it twisted. The Nigerians got humiliated. But it’s not Team USA’s fault the three point line barely extends beyond the free throw line. Or that they made 29 of them. Coach K was also right in saying; they’re required to take a shot every 24 seconds: it’s not his fault; nearly all of them went in. If anything, Coach K tried to avoid the beat down: he stopped pressing, played zone and emptied his bench. Problem is, the guys at the end of his bench are Russ Westbrook, James Harden and Anthony Davis. And if the Nigerians didn’t have a problem with that beatdown, neither should anyone else. Besides, why lose by 60, when you can lose by 83 and make history. And I’m willing to bet if most of these guys were really honest about it, they’d admit it was an honor getting annihilated by the U.S.
