Giants Have One Hand On The Trophy (page 34372)
The Giants have one hand on the World Series trophy and one foot on the Tigers throat after doing them again last night. And I don’t want to hear that all they did was hold serve, and that they’re lucky. Sure they held serve. And now Detroit has to win 4 of 5 without having faced either of their two best pitchers and after seeing their ace get smashed. Hey Tigers fans, you didn’t lose last night because of bad luck, you lost because of bad base running. Prince Fielder getting hosed at the plate with no one out in the second was a game changer. One, why is Gene Lamont sending a 300 pounder home with no one out. And two, everyone in baseball knows Buster Posey isn’t standing in front of the plate, and especially not with that Mack Truck bearing down on him. So find a piece of the outside of the dish big man, and avoid the swipe tag. Instead of being up 1-0, man on second with no one out, it was still a scoreless tie, with a man on second and one out. And the Giants then worked their way out of the inning. The series now shifts back to Detroit, where I know Tigers fans will show up. They just better hope their team does. Because it hasn’t yet.
