Earlier this week Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz insinuated working with Dana White and the UFC was like “slavery.” Ortiz was quoted as saying “I thought slavery was over a long time ago. It’s just one of those things where you can’t trust a word the man says. And when you can’t do that, how can you work for him?” As you can imagine, White had some thoughts about the comparison.
“The guy’s a moron,” White told Jim Rome on his radio program. “To say he was a slave, does he even know what the word slave means? He’s one of the stupidest human beings you will ever meet.”
White said he put up with Ortiz and his issues in the past out of respect for what the fighter had done for the UFC, but told Rome they’ve never had a good relationship.
“Tito and I’ve never got along, ever,” said White. “Now, he’s just showing what a two-faced lying sack he is.”
As for Ortiz’s fight against former UFC Lightweight champion Rampage Jackson on Bellator PPV, White sarcastically shared his enthusiasm for it.
“What an amazing event,” said the UFC president. “They’ve lost nine of their last 10 fights combined.”
White added the fight really means nothing because they’re both washed up, but he can’t blame them for doing it.
“These guys still need to make money,” said White. “You can’t fault guys who need to make money and try to make a living.”
