The Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2014 is official and it’s not at all surprising. Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Frank Thomas are in; Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Sammy Sosa are not.
And if you’re looking for me to bust out and say, good: I hope they never get in; that you don’t reward cheaters with the highest honor in baseball, you’re barking up the wrong tree.
Sure, there was a day I felt that way. About 6 years ago. Now, I just don’t care.
Let PED users in or keep them out…just leave me out of the discussion. The designated hitter can’t believe how tired this debate is.
At this point, I’d rather talk about whether Pete Rose deserves to be in the Hall of Fame over whether or not Barry Bonds deserves to be in.
You see, the real damage of the PED era isn’t that these roiders obliterated the record Books, it’s that they obliterated interest. Now, I’m less interested in the big names who didn’t get in than I am with the kook who voted for Armando Benitez or the 6 people who voted for Moises Alou.
Apathy is the worst thing that can happen to an athlete or a sport, and at this point, I’m there, and I just … don’t… care.
