Ohio State Wins
College Football just found out who won Ohio State’s quarterback competition – Ohio State.
When you see Braxton Miller trending on Twitter, you probably figured it was because he won that 3-man battle. But instead he hit the eject button.
Apparently he’s no longer in it. He told Sports Illustrated, he’ll change positions and focus on wide receiver, H-Back and return punts this fall.
We’re over a month from kickoff and this is already one of the biggest wins in the Big 10. Because Miller is the self-proclaimed “best athlete in college football” – and now he gets to be one, instead of standing on the sideline watching Cardale Jones or J.T. Barrett.
Smart move by Miller. He’s still too banged up to truly compete for the starting q.b. job; and this gets him back on the field and keeps his NFL dream alive. It gives them another tremendous weapon, and makes Urb Meyer’s life a whole helluva lot easier. This is a win for everyone.
It doesn’t necessarily need to be, Cardale Jones or J.T. Barrett or Braxton Miller. It can actually be all three. And that’s the nastiest proposition of all for the rest of the nation; that Urb can now have all three of these cats on the field at the same time.
And I guess Urb Meyer is the master recruiter after all. Because not only did he get a Heisman-caliber quarterback to stay in Columbus, he got him to quit quarterback and start running routes.
Guys don’t want to do that. You have to rip that quarterback wristband from their cold dead hands. Ask Urb’s surrogate son Tim Tebow. He still won’t do it.
And Braxton Miller isn’t just any other quarterback – this is a game breaker who won Big 10 Offensive Player of the Year…Twice! He had two choices: Hold either Cardale or J.T.’s clipboard and keep rehabbing his throwing shoulder. Or get in the game, catch screens & shovels and floss his jets for the NFL. Great call. Huge win.
The Buckeyes have gone from two of their best players standing on the sideline as backups – to one of them jumping in at H-Back and breaking off house calls.
OSU’s gone Voltron. And with Ezekiel Elliott next to him… it’s a college football fantasy team. Ohio State has more talent in their backfield than most Big 10 teams do on their whole roster.
Big victory for the Buckeyes. Feels like they’re already 1-0. The only people who hate this are Jimbo Harbaugh and Mark Dantonio.
