The Chiefs didn’t just got their doors blown off by Aaron Rodgers. They got stomped on by a kicker.
Remember Lawrence Tynes? Won two rings with the Giants. Had a stint with KC. Says in his twitter bio that he’s a “Playoff Field Goal Bad Ass” and last night the PFGBA was tweeting what a lot of Chiefs fans were thinking about Alex Smith. “Throw it down the field check down master… Signing Maclin is like getting a Porsche when you live on a gravel road… Wouldn’t be mad if the Chiefs put Chase Daniel in… I’m done with the check down master”
Check out the kicker coming in hot! Larry Tynes is the “Take down Master.”
And yet, pretty much every single Chiefs fan on Twitter had the exact same take. KC’s got Jamaal Charles, Jeremy Maclin and Travis Kelce. There aren’t 10 teams in the league with a better trio. And yet the Check Down Master makes Pinkhead Mallard look like The Ol Gunslinger.
The Chiefs are all firepower with no trigger.
But I have to ask, Larry – have you ever seen Alex Smith play before? Because he’s played this way since Urb was coaching him. This is who he is. And what he does. And it works for him. Sort of. Kind of. Especially in the postseason where he has a QB rating of 108, and has thrown 9 t.d.s and no picks.
In other words, he’s first ballot game manager hall of fame. He doesn’t throw deep shots, and he doesn’t throw pick 6s. Hell yes he’s the check down king.
Because when you check it down, you don’t turn it over. And that’s what he’s about.
Alex Smith has built a career on winning with a running game and his D… Not providing good TV.
And I don’t care if KC played Chase Daniel or Steve DeBerg or Len Dawson… they weren’t keeping up with Rodgers anyway.
The checkdown master got schooled by the MVP…. Just like everybody else, Larry.
