Blockbuster Deal For No. 1 Pick

Just as the think it’s going to be all NBA, all day today, the Tennessee Titans worked a blockbuster deal with the L.A. Rams for the number one pick overall.

It’s as if the shield couldn’t stand having even one day, where everyone wasn’t looking at and talking about them. Not even one day.

Tennessee traded the first pick overall, along with a fourth, and sixth to the Rams for the 15th pick overall, two second rounders, and a third in 2016 as well as the Rams first and third round picks in 2017.

The first question to ask if you’re drafting early is: do you have a quarterback? Tennessee believes they already have their qb in Marcus Mariota and now they have a boatload of draft picks to go along with him.

L.A. knows they don’t have a quarterback, so they had to give up those picks to try to get one. The Rams gave up a helluva lot. A ton. But you’re nothing without a quarterback, and you have to do whatever you can to get one, especially coming to a new town and when you have to sell tickets, and most likely PSL’s, for a new state of the art crib… They were desperate. Of course they overpaid, they had to.

This was, in effect, the same deal they did with Washington a few years ago, but in reverse. They just have to hope they do a better job with that draft pick than the Redskins did with RG III.

Of course this is a huge gamble for the Rams. But to not do so may be a bigger one.

I can’t guarantee this will work out for them, but I can see why they did it.  They just better hope Carson Wentz or Jared Goff or whoever they take isn’t RG III or they may never recover.
