Ryan Fitzpatrick: ESPN reports: 1 year, $12m guaranteed. That had to be one of the lamest contract battles between a player and team ever.
You knew it was going to come to this. Neither had anywhere else to go. No one else wanted anything to do with the Fitzpatrick. And the Jets wanted nothing to do with Geno Smith starting. Of course this is where they ended up.
Fitzpatrick reportedly wanted $18 mill per. The team wanted to pay him 9. They stared at each other for 5 months. Fitzpatrick misses the entire offseason. And then signs at the very last second before camp opens.
Because that wasn’t a huge waste of time. Like that deal couldn’t have been done months ago.
Who didn’t see it ending like this?? Fitzpatrick doesn’t get star money because he’s not one; but they can’t pay him like a backup because he’s not that either.
And now prepare for some more inflated stats that mean nothing and no wins that truly matter because they’re still not a playoff team.
