ESPN reports J.J. Watt underwent back surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Again, I have no idea how you rush a dude back, or allow him to rush back for the start of the year after he had back surgery this summer. I know this dude is a freak. And he looks indestructible. But he’s obviously not.
He had surgery in January as well. And then another surgery in July. He’s your best player. He’s your most valuable player. A future Hall of Famer. How do you let a guy who had back surgery in July, play in week one? Especially that guy?!.
Knowing what was as stake this year, I’m sure Watt badly wanted to rejoin the fight himself. But that’s when you have to protect the guy from himself and protect your asset and your investment. He rushes back and now he’s lost for the year.
And probably so is any chance to the Texans had of making any run whatsoever. I know, Texan fan: you still have Jadeveon Clowney. And Whitney Mercilus. Right; matters…we all saw what happened when you went into Foxborough and got punched in the face by the Pats who were playing their rookie third string q.b. on a short week. You had J.J. Watt that night. So how are you to make the argument that you’re a threat to anyone who matters without Watt.
And now, you can’t help but wonder if maybe, if we’ve already seen the very best of J.J. Watt.
J. J. Watt is a tough guy to bet against: he’s a beast with a work ethic to match. But that was a devastating injury that he rushed back from only to reinjure it and require surgery again.
