Were the Jets really 10-6 last year: did that really happen?! Because they’re 1-4 this year and pretty much dead on arrival.
And Jets head coach Todd Bowles has some questions he needs to answer. Namely, what the hell was he doing, punting, on fourth and two, from his own 46, down 11 with just over 7 and a half minutes to go in the game. On fourth and two: that went as badly as you’d expect, with the Steelers spinning six minutes off the clock, and they put the game away with a t.d. Only thing worse than the decision, was Bowles defending it after the game: “I don’t think it was a mistake.”
Trust me, Todd. It was. Your defense was not playing that well, so chances were, you weren’t going to stop them. And you didn’t. And you’re down 11, and it’s fourth and 2; halfway through the fourth quarter! Of course, you go for it: and that’s not a matter of hindsight being 20-20: that’s common sense. You need two scores; go for it.
Only thing worse than not going for it there, is saying if you had to do it all over again, you would. Something else he actually said.
Oh, and something else he said, as bad as Ryan Fitzpatrick has looked, he says he’s not considering a q.b. switch. Which, of course, tells you a helluva lot more about Geno Smith than it does Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick has 9 picks in his last 3 games and that’s without throwing one yesterday. And apparently is in no danger of losing his job?! As long as it’s not all his fault, they lose, that’s good enough to keep his job.
Which again, tells you what they think about Geno.
