Additionally, some of the Bills mafia not only wanted the unnecessary roughness foul on the Richard Sherman – Dan Carpenter field goal, they want a fine for Sherman and for everyone to know just how dirty he is for running into the kicker.
You may hate the guy, but that doesn’t make him a dirty player. That may have been a personal foul, but that also doesn’t make Sherman a dirty player.
His hand was on the ball, he was going for a block, not for Dan Carpenter’s knees. Don’t confuse late hit with cheap shot.
Dirty is intentionally trying to hurt a guy. Dirty is going too low to take out a guy and intentionally jeopardize his career. Dirty is stomping a guy when you think no one is looking.
That wasn’t any of those things. It was a late hit. It should have been flagged.
You can’t do what Sherman did. But a late hit, in this case, is not a dirty hit. And Sherman isn’t a dirty player.
