A great win for the Tennessee Titans. They have beaten the Packers, Broncos and Chiefs in the last month. Delanie Walker told us on this show last week they’re not getting the respect they deserve. And he’s right. And especially after they went into Kansas City and beat the Chiefs.
And Chiefs fan, I know you were livid when I went on the NFL on CBS a number of weeks back and said this is a good team, but not a great team and not a team that could make a deep run into the postseason with Alex Smith pulling the trigger. That while he won’t ever get you beat, he just doesn’t make enough big plays to win big games. Well, come to find out; he will get you beat.
He did against Tampa Bay right after I dropped that take on the NFL on CBS, and he did again yesterday against Tennessee. Smith may really resent the rap that he’s a game manager who doesn’t make mistakes. But right now, that might be giving him too much credit; because he has been making mistakes. Big mistakes.
The type of mistakes that cost you big game. Mistakes like forcing that ball to Jeremy Maclin in the end zone in the third quarter that got picked. I get that this guy will never make Aaron Rodgers type plays. But he can’t make those Brock Osweiler type plays either. Assuming Osweiler could even get the Chiefs into the red zone… when he was a starting q.b for the Texans.
They flat out blew it. They had it inside the Titans 10 yard line and came away with no points. That’s why I said what I said about that Smith and that offense. That was the difference in a game they really had to have. They had the division and fate in their own hands, but may have let it slip away. Now they’re back looking up at the Raiders and back in with the wild-carders.
They have the Broncos at home and the Chargers on the road, and by not taking care of their business at Arrowhead, they just made it that much tougher on themselves.
Oh and one more thing Chiefs fan, what happened to that crazy home field advantage at Arrowhead?? Both the Bucs and the Titans have gone into your house and beaten you in the last month alone.
