Get Real, Bob

Tom Brady apparently is hoping to ride his recovery pajamas and no strawberry diet to another 6 or 7 years in the league. Pats owner Bob Kraft said: “as recently as 2-3 days ago, he assured me he’d be willing to play six to seven more years and at the level he performed. There’s no one that would be happier than I and our fan base.”

C’mon, Bob, seriously?!? Sure, he just had one of the greatest seasons of his career and won the Super Bowl at age 39. But he’s entering his 18th season with the Patriots in 2017.  Hell, I could see the guy coming back and having another year similar to the one he just had. But 6 or 7 more of those years??.  Hell no. No way.

I don’t care how technologically advanced his pajamas are or whether or not he never eats tomatoes, strawberries, and never drinks coffee or booze: dude isn’t playing Q.B. at this level, at age 45 in the NFL: he’s not.

I get that there’s never been a Q.B. as committed as this guy; never been one that lived the way he does in terms of a regimented lifestyle. But that alone isn’t enough to keep him playing at this level 6 or 7 more years.

It’s not just the lifestyle and the commitment: it’s certainly that. But it’s also that the guy is smart, gets the ball out so quickly and doesn’t take that many hits because of it. But Kraft has already lost his mind if he thinks his surrogate son Tommy can do this for six or seven more years. Maybe, maybe two more at this level. Tops. Then he’s Joe Namath with the Rams or Peyton Manning, noodle arming it and lobbing knuckleballs ten yards down the field in his last year with the Broncos. That’ll be Brady.

Dude’s not playing that position, at that level in that league for 25 years; don’t insult me with that nonsense, Bob. The guy was awesome last year; he can’t do that for another 6 or 7 years. Get real.
