The Seattle Seahawks reached out to free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick about possibly signing with their team earlier this week. Bleacher Report NFL writer Jason Cole told The Jim Rome Show on Tuesday that he thinks the pairing would work nicely.

“I think it’s a great fit for him,” Cole said about Kaepernick potentially going to Seattle. “In terms of the playing style, in terms of what they ask the quarterback to do, they ask for a lot of movement by the quarterback. The offensive line is not great. He’s not great at reading and anticipating things in an offense, but they don’t ask a lot of that in their offense the way Russell Wilson plays. So yeah, I think it works great.

“Ultimately is it about money? Sure, but this point and time, he’s got to be looking at two million, three million dollars a year. His price tag has come way way down.”

Kaepernick’s national anthem protest, his production, and the amount of money that he’s seeking are all considered to be the reason why the 29-year-old hasn’t been signed by a NFL team, Cole explained.

“He’s being black-balled in the sense that people look at it like he’s not worth the time and effort because of the distraction that he causes on top of the amount of money he wants,” Cole said. “But when people talk about it being a coordinated effort or there’s some level of collusion by all the teams, I don’t buy that for a second. I don’t buy that the 32 owners and the 32 coaches and everybody got together and said we’re all not going to have Colin Kaepernick in the league.

“What they all have looked at is his level of play, which is decent. I know a lot of people like to point to the statistics, but in this case his statistics lie last year about how he played, because they were noncompetitive statistics, alright? So what I look at, the level of play he is at is not a tried, true starter. He’s not in the top ten in the league in anything in terms of ability, in terms of execution. This is a guy who is hanging on to a job, and if you’re going to continue to be a distraction to both the fans and within your locker room, you’re not worth the time. Now that the price has probably come down and people are looking for backup quarterbacks, ok, you got to think about him.”

Reports have also surfaced about the Seahawks looking at former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Robert Griffin III. Cole said the difference between Griffin and Kaepernick’s ability is laughable.

“I would take Kaepernick a thousand times out of a thousand times over RG3,” Cole laughed. “Look, RG3 can’t play. If you haven’t figured that out by now, he can’t read defense, he doesn’t fit in any system, he is a China doll when it comes to staying healthy. He doesn’t even run that well anymore. Kaepernick can really run at this point in time.”

“And I know a lot of people are going to say Robert Griffin III was a Junior Olympic sprinter or whatever he was, or hurdles guy, at some point in time, that doesn’t matter anymore. The body is beat up. He’s a skinny guy who doesn’t take a lot of hits. He doesn’t take a lot of pounding, Kaepernick is a guy who can still go and still run around and is a bigger human being who can take more punishment, to me, it’s a no brainer slam dunk. You take Colin Kaepernick a thousand times out of a thousand times.”
