Let me start with the bad news. Down 2 games to 1, tonight is essentially a must-win game for the Ducks. And the Preds are pretty much unbeatable at home.
On top of that, they look like they’re the best remaining team in the postseason. They are so fast, and so deep and put so much pressure on the opposition. Watching Game 3, it felt like the Ducks were playing a man short for most of the game.
And because the Ducks really can’t skate with them, their only hope is to mug ‘em. But you can’t hit what you can’t catch. That’s the bad news.
The good news is, the Ducks are resilient as hell. They were down to the Preds last year and came back to even the series. They trailed Edmonton this year and came back to beat them. And goalie John Gibson is standing on his head and keeping them in the series.
It doesn’t look great, but they can do this. But Gibson and the Ducks are going to have to play their best game of the season tonight.
Do that, they get the home ice back and then it’s a best of three and anything can happen. I’ll say it again, I never ever root: but freaking… Go Ducks!! Go Ducks!!
