Golden State obviously has to approach tonight’s Game 5, as a must-win game. Because if the Cavs come into their house and rip this one, you have to almost assume that mo will carry them all the way back home and a sure victory in game 6. And then… it’s nearly impossible to bet against LeBron in Game 7 and when he’s just 48 minutes from immortality and going down as the GOAT.
Bring the Cavs back from a 3-1 deficit and then a 3-0 deficit against a team that was being hyped as possibly the greatest ever three days ago… and this dude blows right by Michael Jordan as the GOAT.
Hell, at that point, you have to switch out Jerry West as the league logo and make it LeBron. But that’s a big, big if. They’re still down 3-1. And that was just one game. A near perfect game from the Cavs. Who are going to have to show up like that three more times… They may have one of those games in them… At home… But they don’t have three more of them, and two in Oakland… That’s what it’s going to take to beat Golden State.. And that’s just not happening.
And no, I don’t care that it, in fact, happened just last year… The Cavs came back on those Warriors… Not these Warriors. And these Warriors are different. They’re better.
Those Warriors didn’t have Kevin Durant… Those Warriors didn’t have a healthy, motivated Steph Curry.. Those Warriors didn’t have to listen to people remind them every single day for a year that they blew a 3-1 lead… This group did… And they’re better for it… And hungrier for it.
And while Draymond Green has to be making the Warriors and their fans a little nervous with his act the last couple of games, and Steph Curry wasn’t that sharp in Game 4, there is no way the Warriors blow a 3-1 lead only to come back and choke away a 3-0 lead. No chance… and they’re not getting on a plane and headed back to C-town, nor are they taking their chances with LeBron in a Game 7 either. They’ll finish it tonight, get the Larry O, and then get to whatever beach they were headed to in the first place.
They’ll end it tonight.
